Micro Events
A Micro Event is a professional development effort that aligns to the PPRC mission of empowering and inspiring members to use project management principles in their community. The primary scope of the Micro Event is to provide a unique service to PPRC members; furnishing a defined structure and support system to enable professional development opportunities. PPRC provides members with a support structure to:
- Validate their created content and proposed learning objectives
- Communicate and market a unique professional development opportunity
- Provide a platform for an in-person or virtual professional development events connecting members and the community.
PPRC defines a ‘Micro Event’ as a PMI Education PDU within the ‘Informal Learning’ category. PPRC furnishes a structure for the Informal Learning by providing an opportunity for participants to “Create Content”, “Give a Presentation”, or “Share Knowledge”; thereby earning a PDU.

- What is a Micro Event?

- Why is PPRC starting this program?
Many of our members have told us they would like more events, especially in person, and more opportunities to learn and network. We’ve heard your request and we will support you.
- Why should I host an event?
It’s an opportunity for you to share your unique project management insights with smaller groups of interested members and interact in a unique and interactive way. It’s a chance for our members to grow professionally, network, and learn from your expertise.
- Are events going to be virtual or in-person?
Members who host can choose to present either online or in-person.
- If the event is in-person, where will it be?
Hosts will choose a location in Colorado Springs to meet at for their small group gathering.
- How long will the events be?
We envision it will be about 30 minutes as the events are designed to be informal and short.
- Will hosts and participants earn PDUs if they participate?
Yes, PPRC will offer .5 PDUs for a 30-minute session to hosts and participants.
- Will I receive any support as a host from the chapter?
Yes, PPRC will support hosts in several ways, including:
* Validating your created content and proposed learning objectives
* Communicating and marketing your unique professional development opportunity
* Providing a platform for an in-person, virtual, or both development event to connect members and the community
* Registering participants, providing registration information, and providing the PDU code to the Host 2 days prior to the event
* Providing event email reminders to all registrants 1 day prior to the event, including any virtual credentials and/or meeting materials
- What kind of content is needed to host? Are you looking for a specific industry or subject?
We’re looking for project management information related to your industries, such as defense and aerospace, IT and cyber, manufacturing, healthcare and med-tech, sports and outdoor events, and academic. We’d love to hear your ideas and help you develop your content!
- As a host, will I have to develop an extensive curriculum?
No, you won’t have to develop detailed content. These events are meant to be structured, yet short and informal with a chance for participants to collaborate. An example might be: “I want to share some ideas on how I use my scheduling software for my project.”
- What is the process to start and be considered to host?

- Can I host and present non-PM related topics?
No. We’ve created this new program to specifically focus on project management topics. Events are meant to contribute to our mission and the growth of our members related to project management.
