Session 1 (1 Strategic PDU):

Speaker: Craig Baxter

What is a Strategy? And do you really have one?

Description: People are often confused or mistaken about what comprises a complete strategy.  Often vision and mission statements, business goals and objectives, or even simple tag lines are positioned as strategy.  While these are all inputs to strategy, a good strategy is a detailed plan for how an organization is going to accomplish those things.  In this presentation, we'll explore a template that structures strategy across five dimensions.  This template can be used to develop new strategy or to evaluate the current state of a strategy toward understanding how well it aligns with intended objectives. 

 

 Bio: Craig Baxter has three decades of experience applying analytical and organizational skills, technical aptitude and problem solving skills toward creating and improving business results.  He began is career as an electrical engineer in the Air Force.  He then progressed to software engineering and project management before moving into leadership roles in a variety of disciplines including systems development, product management, and general business management.  Craig has worked in a various industries including manufacturing, defense, telecommunications, financial services, event media, and IT service management.  He has a BS in Electrical Engineering and an MS in Computer Science.

Speaker: Tim Emick, Owner of Timberline Landscaping

A Job Like no Other: Inside the Reconstruction of the Manitou Incline

Timberline-Incline ConstructionDescription: A look at project management and construction by the contractor who completed all 3 phases of repairs on the Manitou Incline. Details from supply delivery by helicopter, to working near a high-pressure water line, and earning the trust of a large public fan-base will be covered.

Bio: Tim Emick - Tim started Timberline Landscaping in 1982 with the goal of “Creating a little bit of Heaven” for each client. He holds numerous certifications including; Landscape Industry Certifications in Hardscape and Softscape Installation, Irrigation, Ornamental and Turf Maintenance, is a Certified Snow Professional, and a Landscape Industry Certified Manager. Timberline is a National Association of Landscape Professionals Grand Award Winner for their work on the Manitou Incline.

The PMI Pikes Peak Regional Chapter Refund and Cancellation Policy is currently under revision. As per the approved revisions, cancellation of registrations for Chapter Meetings will be honored and refunds granted when the cancellation is completed/received by 11:59 PM seven business days before the event.
