Workshop Topic: Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) Maintenance Workorder Lean Process Improvement Effort
Description: This presentation will surround the largest Lean Effort to date at CDOT. Discussion concerning the current state, future state and the
identified gap that will be addressed in the coming months.
LEARNING OUTCOMES: At the conclusion of the workshop, attendees will be able to understand:

• Project Management, and
• Importance of Change Management

ultimately ROI for a wide variety of efforts, projects and initiatives.

MICHELLE MALLOY wears
many hats at the Colorado
Department of Transportation.
Michelle is the Program
Manager for Change
Management Services, a Lean
Leader and the Change Agent
Network Statewide Lead for
CDOT’s Change Agent
Network. Michelle facilitates
multiple projects and teams
throughout the organization in
an effort to improve upon the
efficiency, effectiveness and
elegance of the products and
services they provide to CDOT
and to the residences of the
state of Colorado.
Michelle comes from a diverse
background with an
undergraduate degree in
Education from UNM and an
MBA from the Hassan School
of Business at CSUP.
Michelle
has worked at CDOT for 7
years and has had the unique opportunity to work in a wide
variety of business areas,
departments, groups and
teams and with many
exceptional people throughout
the state and beyond.

 

GARY VANSUCH is Director of
Process Improvement for the
Colorado Department of
Transportation (also known as
"CDOT"). As a member of the
CDOT top executive team,
Gary directs efforts to
improve the organization’s
operations and to make
government more effective,
efficient and elegant. He has
over 30 years of business
improvement and change
leadership experience in the
energy, financial services and
governmental services
sectors.
Mr. Vansuch has held several
leadership positions within the
American Society for Quality
(ASQ), including Chair of the
Service Quality Division and
Chair of the international
Ishikawa Medal Selection
Committee. Gary is a Lean Six Sigma
Master Black Belt and a
Certified Change Management
Practitioner. Additionally, Gary
served 6 years with the
Malcolm Baldrige National
Quality Award program,
including 4 years as a Senior
Examiner and as a member of
the national Case Study
Development Team. He has
also been a Judge for ASQ’s
International Team Excellence
Awards, and a Judge for the
RIT / USA Quality Cup
competition for improvement
teams.

 

LAURA RUTZ works alongside
a group of dedicated and
hardworking interns at the
Colorado Department of
Transportation’s Process
Improvement Office. Laura
keeps her plate full by
providing project support to
many different kinds of
initiatives happening here at
CDOT, including the Change
Agent Network and the
Maintenance Work Order
Project.
Laura is an Organizational
Development Senior at Regis
University, where she will
graduate in the summer.
Laura has previous experience
working with the state? she
was the Colorado Commission
on Higher Education’s Student
Advisor. Laura has enjoyed
her experience here at CDOT
and expresses gratitude to
everyone for this exceptionally unique
opportunity.
